My Spring Special! Attn: Parents of Grads

Here's my great deal I'm offering for this spring.  There's still time before Graduation and I have some awesome products in my Portfolio package!  Spread the word and let your friends know!

Ramzy's Preferred

My niece Ramzy asked if I could come and take some pictures of her first Preference dance.  I love any excuse to shoot my cute nieces and nephews.
I think she was feeling a little embarrassed and awkward with the whole family watching as they exchanged flowers.  And of course getting it all pinned on doesn't help the awkwardness of the moment!
But I love this one of her out of focus in the background while her mom is pinning on his boutaneer.
I love using the frame for these dance pictures.  It makes it a little more fun and a little more interactive.
Here's her darling wrist coursage.  I love it!!
A close up of her lashes
I think she was feeling a little embarrassed that I was making her take a few alone while everyone looked on.  But she looked so cute and I wanted to get a few of just her.
 So cute, Ramz!!
The very best part was this!!!  She is the VANS girl and has so many pairs and this dance was no exception!  She even found some fancy onces that matched her dress!  So cute!

Another Eliza Session

I love that Eliza gives me so many opportunities to shoot and try out new things.  I love the whole feel of this shoot and I have been having fun trying new things in Lightroom with these shots.  She was loving her lashes and wanted some shots of them.  I love the way this turned out.
The other girls wanted one with the three of them and their long lashes.  This was fun playing around in post production and adding some fun actions.
I just used small flash for these and I love the light.  She looks so pretty and so soft!
I love this in Black and White!  More pretty, soft, light.

I liked the Edgy look, yet soft light.
 Another lash shot!  Movie star-esque!

Day 12--Family Night

Although I didn't really do anything too technical here, I brought along my camera just in case.  It's been great having my camera around more for all the family comings and goings.
I liked the action here.
I like the colors
The reflection on the floor looks cool here.
I like focusing down the lane here and still having my son in the frame watching the ball rolling down.
The joy from a "spare"!

Day 11

I saw the moon tonight and just had to try and shoot it in a way that would do the whole scene justice.  My longest lens only goes to 200mm, so I worried that the moon would be big enough in the shot.  I liked the cold but clear blue sky.

Day 10--Ooops

Well, things got a little crazy and I didn't plan very well for my Day 10 post, but I found an old card that I haven't used since Christmas with pics of the boys Christmas sing at school that actually turned out really well considering all.  So I cheated and decided to use this shot for my day 10.  They did this concert in the lunchroom at school and had all the lights out with only a few lights on a bar pointed at the students.  I was also half-way across the room, so I had to use my zoom and hope that I didn't get any random heads in the way as I shot through the crowd.  This was shot right after he found me in the crowd and he was beaming that I was there.
I had to bump up the ISO to 1250 with a 1/60 at F.6 racked out to 200mm.  I love how his face is just shining and light, but also having the sweet faces of the other children.

Day 9: A Familiar Landmark

Now that I've lived here 5 years, you would think that I would just drive past without a second glance.  I don't.  I notice it nearly every time I pass.  Not only was it iconic in the 80's from the movie "Footloose", but It reminds me of the old days in this county before it was on such a busy corner.  Sleepy town USA.  Quiet little Lehi, Utah.

Tonight I was looking for another night shot where I could do some experimentation.  I wanted to have the blur of cars going past.  The focus isn't as sharp as I'd have liked, but I only steadied it on the window sill of my car and it was cold enough outside that the car was running so I could keep the heat running.  Oh well, I upped the noise in Lightroom, to kind of give it that artistic feel.  But I realize that I really need a tripod.....

Day 8: My Yummy Dinner

So I got home and started my dinner and realized that I hadn't taken any shots today.  So of course, I decided to display my yummy steak tacos and see if I could make them look as good as they tasted.  I didn't  use any flash.  Instead I shot at f4 at 1/60.  I did bump up my ISO to 800 and adjusted the white balance to tungsten.  But they still look almost as yummy as they tasted!

Day 7: Painting with Light

My kids have these lights all over my house.  I decided to play around a little with my shutter and see what I could come up with as they played and danced in the dark with these lights all stuck to their fingers.
If you can't tell the left is a "G" and the one on the right is a "J" for their initials.
This reminds me of playing with sparklers but much safer and indoors!

I liked this the best!  In honor of February!!  Very fun!  A great idea for wedding receptions.
